6 Teas That Help With Anxiety and Stress

But there are natural things that you can do to help with relieving your symptoms. Below are 6 teas that you can drink to help you feel better.

1. Peppermint Tea

If you are looking for a great way to relieve your anxiety and reduce stress, peppermint tea is a good choice. The tea contains menthol and helps to naturally relax your muscles. When you’re anxious or stressed out, you often feel irritable and tense.

You’re going to feel calm overall when you drink peppermint tea. Because it doesn’t have caffeine and it has a relaxing effect, peppermint tea is the ideal choice to drink before you go to bed. You’ll have a more peaceful sleep.

The one thing that should be noted is that it’s not a good idea for pregnant women to drink it, since it may cause miscarriage.

Preparation

Both fresh and dry peppermint leaves can be used for making tea. If you’re using dry leaves, add one tablespoon to around eight ounces boiling water. Let it steep 3 to 4 minutes. If you’re using fresh leaves, put crushed leaves into boiling water. Allow it to simmer for two minutes, then strain before you drink it.

2. Chamomile Tea

There are times when anxiety and stress causes sleeplessness. Chamomile will reduce anxiety and stress but helps to treat insomnia. Just like it is with peppermint, it has a lot of benefits with reducing irritability and relaxing your muscles.

Preparation

If you’re using dry, add 3 to 4 tablespoons to eight ounces boiling water. Let it steep 5 minutes. If you’re using fresh chamomile, add the chamomile flowers to a pot filled with hot water, so that it infuses and leave it there for three minutes. Strain and then drink.

3. Lemon Balm

Lemon Balm is a herb that is calming and belongs in the same family and mint. It has a flavor that is naturally minty and a little bit of lemon. It reduces cortisol and helps to relaxing your body and doesn’t cause drowsiness. It also helps with elevating your mood.

Preparation

For each cupful boiling water, add a tablespoon dried leaves. If you’re using fresh, add two tablespoons. Strain the tea before you drink.

4. Passion Flower

This tea is another way that you can naturally treat anxiety and stress. That is because passion flower has an ingredient in it that helps with anxiety called flavone chrysin. It also helps with giving you a good night’s sleep.

Even though passion flower is safe and won’t cause any adverse effects when it’s taken with other types of sedatives, it’s a good idea if you avoid this tea if you’re taking a sedative. Children who are younger than 6 months old and lactating or pregnant women should not drink it.

Preparation

Add a teaspoon dried into a cupful boiling water and let it steep 10 minutes.

5. Green Tea

Green tea has polyphenol in it that helps with combating stress and anxiety. Even though its full of caffeine, this tea is adaptogenic which means it will keep you alert but calm so that you aren’t feeling drowsy.

Preparation

Add ½ teaspoon powdered leaves into a cup of water. Boil the water until the leaves have settled to the cup’s bottom and strain it before you drink it.

6. Rose tea

Along with a lot of benefits, this tea helps with remedying anxiety and stress. This is done by easing your mind and that is why this tea is great for drinking before you lay down to sleep. It will help you with sleeping well.

Preparation

This can be made using fresh rose petals or dry ones. Put the petals into boiling water. If you’re using fresh ones, thoroughly wash them before you put them into the water. Reduce the heat and allow it to steep for 5 to 10 minutes until your petals are dark. Strain the tea before you drink it.
